O Mercadão teve sua pedra fundamental lançada em 31 de janeiro de 1907 e sua construção levou pouco mais de um ano, sendo inaugurada em 12 de abril 1908. No entanto, esse não foi o primeiro mercado municipal na cidade, Campinas teve outros dois. Saiba mais:
